At approximately 12:30 am October 11, 2018 a compressor oil leak occurred at the Logan Lake Recreation Centre. The oil contained residual ammonia that triggered the fire and ammonia alarm systems. Emergency safety protocols were immediately implemented and the building was safely secured. No evacuations were required as the facility was closed for the evening. There were no injuries as a result of the incident.
The Recreation Centre’s Ammonia Ice Plant Facility has undergone recent upgrades and safety protocol improvements to ensure a safe environment for both District staff and the public.
The District will be working closely with all appropriate emergency & safety authorities to ensure this matter is addressed.
