Mayor and Council of the District of Logan Lake are pleased to recognize and congratulate the members of the Teck Highland Valley Copper Mine Rescue Team. The team received top honors in the Surface Competition of the 9th Western Regional Mine Rescue Competition held in Fernie, BC on September 12th. This competition focuses on reacting quickly and effectively to various disasters which may occur in the surface mining industry. We are very proud to have a team so dedicated to making Teck Highland Valley Copper a safer place for our Logan Lake and other area residents to work. Congratulations to Coach Gerry Wong, Captain Dirk Werring, Vice-Captain Dale Konowalchuk, Steve Hippisley, John Brennan, Peter Lapointe, Dave Potter and Sean Davies on your achievement.
Effective Noon Monday, October 19, 2009, and until further notice, Category 1, 2 and 3 open fires are no longer prohibited and are permitted at all elevations throughout the Kamloops Fire Centre. Please see attached public notice for more information.
Residents and visitors are strongly encouraged to be vigilant in reducing the risk of fire within town, and in the back country. Regardless of the lower risk in these specific areas, the public is urged to remain cautious with their use of campfires.

The Breeding Bird Atlas Program is currently seeking volunteers to observe and report the status of all birds in a specified area over a five year period. The minimum requirement is 20 hours over five years. This information provides a history of changes around the province. This will be of interest to those who are involved in birding and the outdoors. Further information can be found at birdatlas.bc.ca

The District of Logan Lake has in place a policy for the Donation of Benches. This policy was established for individuals or organizations to donate a bench to the community. Specifications and costs for the bench are available at the Municipal Office; please note that the total cost for the bench is the responsibility of the donator. If you or an organization you belong to would like to donate a bench to the community in memory of someone of just as a donation, applications are available at the District Office.
