Breeding Bird Atlas - Volunteers Needed

The Breeding Bird Atlas Program is currently seeking volunteers to observe and report the status of all birds in a specified area over a five year period.  The minimum requirement is 20 hours over five years.  This information provides a history of changes around the province.  This will be of interest to those who are involved in birding and the outdoors. Community Achievers - Teck Highland Valley Copper Mine Rescue Team

Mayor and Council of the District of Logan Lake are pleased to recognize and congratulate the members of the Teck Highland Valley Copper Mine Rescue Team.  The team received top honors in the Surface Competition of the 9th Western Regional Mine Rescue Competition held in Fernie, BC on September 12th.  This competition focuses on reacting quickly and effectively to various disasters which may occur in the surface mining industry.  We are very proud to have a team so dedicated to making Teck Highland Valley Copper a safer place for our Logan Lake and other area residents to work. 
Congratulations to Coach Gerry Wong, Captain Dirk Werring, Vice-Captain Dale Konowalchuk, Steve Hippisley, John Brennan, Peter Lapointe, Dave Potter and Sean Davies on your achievement.

2010 Water Regulations

Please be advised that effective June 1, 2010 water usage will be in effect as follows:

WATERING HOURS:
Odd numbered civic addresses may water on odd numbered days; even numbered civic addresses may water on even numbered days between the hours of 5:00 - 9:00 am and/or 6:00 - 10:00 pm.

OTHER WATER USES:
All hoses used outdoors should be equipped with a working spring-loaded shutoff device.  Hand watering of plants using a hose with a spring-loaded shut-off nozzle or a hand-held container is permitted at any time.  Water customers are encouraged to use irrigation materials consisiting of drip type systems with timers

Boulevard Parking

The District's Traffic and Street Use Bylaw does not allow vehicles to park on boulevards.  Owners of vehicles currently parking on boulevards will be contacted and directed to move the vehicles.  Failure to do so could result in a ticket.

Burning Regulations - District of Logan Lake

 

Burning Permits are required from the Fire Chief of the District of Logan Lake for land clearing and burning of yard debris within the municipality. 

 

Residents and visitors are strongly encouraged to be vigilant in reducing the risk of fire within town, and in the back country.  Regardless of the lower risk in these specific areas, the public is urged to remain cautious with their use of campfires.

Dog Owners
In an effort to keep our public walkways and our community clean, we ask that all dog owners pick up any animal feces that your dog may leave behind during outings.  Logan Lake prides itself on being one of the cleanest communities in BC and for your convenience, we provide a dispenser with free disposal bags for your animal feces, at the entrance to the lake walking path.  Your efforts in this regard, are appreciated by all.

District of Logan Lake Donation of Benches
The District of Logan Lake has in place a policy for the Donation of Benches.  This policy was established for individuals or organizations to donate a bench to the community.  Specifications and costs for the bench are available at the Municipal Office; please note that the total cost for the bench is the responsibility of the donor.  If you or an organization you belong to would like to donate a bench to the community in memory of someone of just as a donation, applications are available at the District Office.  Please make your inquiries to 250-523-6225 or email.

Logan Lake Emergency Social Services (ESS) - NEEDS YOU

Wildfire Sprinkler Program

As you are aware wildfire season is fast approaching and with wildfires already being recorded in the Kamloops Region, we in Logan Lake have been working on a wildfire protection plan for the community.

Many of you may have seen forestry crews thinning and burning over the last four years along with the trails, fencing and interdepartmental training.  All have been a very big part of the plan.

Our next step is to help home owners with their Fire Smart plans.   Included is an option to install an outdoor sprinkler to their home in the event of a wildfire.  These sprinklers are a type that the forest protection crews use, and will be compatible with their fire protection systems so in the event of a wildfire they or the fire department will be able to connect to it.  In order to acquire these sprinklers at a reasonable cost we would need to order 30 or more at a time for a cost of $40/sprinkler.  Installing the sprinkler is easy, however,  if help is required the Fire Department members are willing to assist and inspect for Fire Smart homes.  A sign-up sheet will be at the Municipal Office for anyone who would like to participate in this program.  Questions may be directed to the Fire Chief at 250-523-6225 (228) or firechief@loganlake.ca
