Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Scheduling and supervision of public works and recreation centre personnel;
  • Prepares and manages the departments operating and capital budgets;
  • Prepares cost estimates for materials and equipment;
  • Manages the water and sewer services;
  • Manages the solid waste and recycling services;
  • Ensures ongoing maintenance of streets and roads paving, traffic control, lighting, sweeping and snow removal;
  • Ensures ongoing maintenance of parks and playgrounds;
  • Ensures preventative maintenance of equipment and supplies;
  • Investigates public complaints related to services and follow-up accordingly;
  • Monitors programs and special projects;
  • Monitors and initiates safety programs;
  • Provides reports and recommendations to the Chief Administrative Officer, regarding municipal business
  • Responsible for Municipal Campground, open the first week in May and closing just after Thanksgiving in October;
  • Responsible for all maintenance at the Municipal Campground.;
  •

1. Road Maintenance and Snow Clearing

Please note that during the winter months, it is required that you DO NOT park your vehicle on the roadway or sidewalk. Keeping the roadways and sidewalks clear will allow the Public Works Department to clear them of snow. For more information on Snow Plowing and Clearing, please click here. "533. The Director is hereby authorized to remove any vehicle from any highway where such vehicle in total or in part impedes snow removal or any other public works at the expense of the owner, and he is further authorized to post such signs and traffic control devices as may be necessary to expedite these works." and,
"536 (a) No person shall cause or permit a vehicle to stop, stand or park on any sidewalk, curb or boulevard or sidewalk crossing."
