Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Ensures preparation and collection of applicable taxes, and the administration of the Home Owner Grant Program;
- Receives all monies paid to the municipality;
- Ensures the keeping of all funds and securities of the municipality;
- Invests municipal funds, as permitted by provincial legislation;
- Expends municipal funds in the manner authorized by the Council;
- Prepares interim financial statements and/or financial reports as required by municipal legislation;
- Maintains risk management insurance requirements for the municipality;
- Ensures accurate records and full accounts of the financial affairs of the municipality are prepared, maintained and kept safe;
- Exercises control and supervision over all other financial affairs of the municipality;
- Supervision of department personnel;
- Ensures the keeping of all assets and liabilities of the municipality;
- Responsible for the development and management of the Financial Plans.
