The Logan Lake Fire Rescue shall be responsible for protecting lives  and property from all fire hazards within the District's Fire Service Area; recruitment, training, fire prevention, fire fighting; liaison with SAR and related agencies.  The Fire Department shall be responsible for all technical reports and budgetary control, including the purchase and maintenance of all required fire, rescue vehicles and equipment.

Duties include but not limited to the following:

  • Implement new and improved methods, technology and programs relating to safety and rescue;
  • Prepare and maintain the required policies, Standard Operating Guidelines, rules and regulations for the proper and efficient administration and operation of the department, including liability and compliance requirements;
  • Provide quarterly reports to Council on the operation of the Fire and Rescue department;
  • Review and provide comments on development permits, subdivisions and/or building projects;
  • Ensure the optimum utilization of volunteer fire fighters and resources through the selection, hiring, training, development, promotion and motivation of fire fighters.  Also responsible for discipline and dismissal, as may be required;
  • Maintain and appoint Fire Department members into volunteer officer positions;
  • Ensure that proper measures are implemented to prevent, control and extinguish fires and for the protection of life and property;
  • Develop a fire inspection program and conduct fire and safety inspections;
  • Liaison with SAR and related agencies;
  • Address space requirements for SAR and the Emergency Operations Centre;
  • Enforce local bylaws respecting fire prevention;
  • Investigate and record the cause of all fires within the District of Logan Lake;
  • Collect and disseminate information regarding fires in the District of Logan Lake, which includes investigating conditions under which fires are likely to occur;
  • Provide advice or make recommendations in regard to:
    • Provision of adequate water supplies for protection,
    • Installation and maintenance of automatic or other fire alarms systems and fire extinguishment equipment,
    • The enforcement of measures for the prevention of fire of the protection of life and property against fire,
    • The prevention of fires generally;
  • Investigate public complaints related to fire and safety.

Please be aware that you must apply for a Burning Permit from the Fire Chief before you burn.   There is no charge for the permit.  The document below contains information on Burning Regulations and includes a Burning Permit.  The permit must be signed by the Fire Chief prior to commencing burning.
